Educational Resources have produced several videos and books related to family and domestic violence.
  • Protecting Yourself From Domestic Violence - Denise's Story (1997) explains how to apply for and use a protection order under the Domestic Violence Act 1995 and how to access help from Women’s Refuge, the Police and a lawyer. The video follows the story of Denise, who is escaping a violent partner, and includes interviews with professionals working with domestic violence.  A workbook for facilitators accompanies the video.
  • Your Call  - This video and workbook is for people who have had protection orders made against them under the Domestic Violence Act. The story informs respondents about the conditions of a protection order, their rights, types of domestic violence, implications of breaching a protection order, impact on children, and stopping violence programmes.
  • “She'll be Sweet” – This training video and workbook shows the story of a NZ BBQ scene involving four men who use a range of behaviours to exercise power and control over their partners and children, with a focus on psychological abuse and coercive control.  
  • Helping Our Children Heal: Child Sexual Abuse – This video provides practical advice for people caring for young children who have been sexually abused.  Parents talk about their feelings, their child’s behaviour, and where they got help. Interviews with a social worker, psychologist and a doctor are included.
  • Judgment Day – This video shows the story of defendants appearing in the District Court on criminal charges. It is designed to help defendants (especially 18-30 year olds) understand the court process, know how to prepare for court, and what they can do to affect the outcome, and to assist in the training of those people working with defendants.  
  • Awhi Whanau – Whakamarama tikanga ki nga koti  - This video follows the story of a Maori defendant through the court process and includes interviews with a community lawyer, a Duty Solicitor, a Maatua Whangai worker, a probation officer and a Maori community worker. It is designed for showing to Maori defendants or the people who work with them. 
  • Victims Rights – This video follows two victims from the time of the initial incident through to the court process. The story provides information about victim’s rights, how the criminal justice system works, how they can have their say and who is available to assist them.
Denise’s Story and Your Call are currently being updated. It is expected that they should be available in October 2009.

Many people in front-line jobs encounter women who have mental illness/substance abuse problems that are the result of domestic violence.
 
The dramatised documentary He Drove Me Mad is designed to help police, social service agencies, lawyers, health professionals, voluntary and NGO services to understand the difficult women they meet and take constructive action to help them.
 
The documentary presents the viewers with:
  • dramatised experiences of women who have been abused – and who are mentally unwell or drunk – as they attempt to get help.   The dramatisations are taken from real life stories, demonstrating a number of the barriers that women in this situation encounter when trying to access help
  • information about the size and scope of the problem in New Zealand and how agencies can constructively help these women when they encounter them
  • actors bringing to life the stories that can lie behind that 'difficult client'.
It comes with a teaching resource. The teaching resource consists of a CD that contains:
