The New Zealand Family Violence Clearinghouse provides information about training opportunities and career development for people who currently work or want to work in the field of family violence intervention and prevention. When available, job opportunities are also listed.

Career Services
Career Services is a government agency that provides a one-stop website for people seeking support in the planning of their career. Based on an inclusive approach, the service offers all people in New Zealand information, advice and guidance in relation to tertiary or trade training, and the labour market. From the homepage you can search for advice on choosing, planning and developing your career; explore information on jobs in New Zealand and learn about industries; find out about national and regional trends; search for courses and training information; and tools to find jobs that match your skills, the subjects you enjoy, and your interests. To find out about courses in social work, counselling, or psychotherapy, from the Home page click on “Courses and Training”, then click on “Course database”, and scroll down the page and click on either “Community and Social Work”, “Guidance and Counselling”, or “Psychotherpy”.
CPS
Preventing harm to Children through education and awareness CPS is a non-profit child advocacy service which provides access to child protection training programmes for individuals and organisations in New Zealand. CPS offers two NZQA approved courses: ‘Child Protection Studies Programme’ and ‘Diploma in Child Protection Studies’. Additionally, a number of workshops are held throughout New Zealand each year.
Diploma in Violence and Trauma Studies
Public Health and Psychosocial Studies - AUT The Diploma in Violence and Trauma Studies at AUT is a one year fulltime programme, although students can also enrol part-time and complete the course over two years. The aim of the programme is to provide vocational training in violence, abuse and trauma studies for people working, or interested in working within social service settings, along with the health and justice sector. Students develop an understanding of theory and practice in this field, and the skills and attitudes necessary to enhance work practice.
Human Services 103: Violence in Society
The School of Social Work and Human Services, University of Canterbury This course introduces students to the contemporary issue of violence in society and its impact on the community. A broad overview of five main areas of violence is provided within the course: child protection; family violence; youth violence; institutional and cultural violence; and criminal and forensic violence.
Human Services 206: Child Protection and Family Welfare
The School of Social Work and Human Services, University of Canterbury This course introduces students to the area of child protection and child and family welfare practice and policy, and provides an overview of the three main phases of child welfare: investigative, solution-focused, and statutory systems of care.

Communications Advisor
NCIWR NCIWR is an independent, non-government umbrella organisation for member Refuges throughout New Zealand with its National Office based in Wellington. We are looking for someone to step into the role of Communications Advisor. This is a critical, demanding and stimulating role. A key member of the team, you will report directly to the Chief Executive. Your media experience, excellent communication and writing skills will be vital as you liaise with media, prepare media releases and keep abreast of current news and events. Use your creative flair as you prepare topical speeches and presentations for a variety of audiences. This position calls for a self starter who has a positive attitude, is enthusiastic and outgoing, with great interpersonal skills and strong relationship building and networking abilities. This role has variety and challenge and will require strong time and project management skills. An understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and a sound knowledge of the political environment that we operate in, would be a definite advantage.
