Families Commission releases first Families and Whānau Status Report

The Families Commission has released its first report in a series planned to contribute to New Zealand's understanding of family and whānau wellbeing.

The Families and Whānau Status Report series will measure and monitor the wellbeing of families and whānau, identify research opportunities to address knowledge gaps and review the use of existing and potential new data sets.

The first report is presented in two parts which address preliminary considerations in measuring family and whānau wellbeing. Part one of the report, made up of feature articles from social science experts, provides an in-depth review of demographic changes and their impact on family and whānau. Part Two discusses two conceptual frameworks developed by the Families Commission to measure family and whānau wellbeing.
