The New Zealand Family Violence Clearinghouse has complied a Timeline to document progress and setbacks on the journey towards the prevention and elimination of family, whānau and sexual violence in Aotearoa New Zealand.

The Timeline highlights key milestones or achievements of national or international significance, high quality research with policy and/or practice implications and the seeding of new initiatives.

The Timeline is published as a series of pages by decade with milestones / achievements collated under four main headings:

  • Community and NGOs,
  • Government and Government Agencies (legislation, strategies and actions),
  • Research, and
  • International.

Milestones relevant to particular population groups are also highlighted using one or more small icons. Legislation and initiatives specifically addressing sexual violence are identified in the same way.

The Timeline is accessible through the New Zealand Family Violence Clearinghouse website under Publications.  Navigate to About this Timeline for further information.
