The Family Violence Networks (formerly known as the Te Rito Networks) will be funded $2.8m for one further year.

The announcement recognises that "Family violence is a complex social problem and it often requires a response from more than one agency. There is strong evidence to show that joined-up, co-ordinated responses are more effective.

A co-ordinated approach allows government and community organisations to work together at the local level to develop a strategic community-led response to family violence."

It also states that the funding is being made available for one year as "social services are refocused through a change programme".
