The "Voice of Experience" guide has been released by the Taskforce for Action on Violence Within Families. Developed by the Family Violence Unit, it focuses on ways to involve family violence service users in organisations. These include planning, managing and delivering services, with a particular emphasis on policy and service development.

The guide states, "There is growing recognition in the health and social sectors both in New Zealand and internationally that service users are experts by experience." It sets out reasons to involve services users, best practice overview, barriers, mechanisms and working with specific populations.
