New Zealand Family Violence Clearinghouse
Vision
The national centre for all family/whanau violence information
Mission
Making comprehensive, excellent quality family/whanau violence information
available.
Organisation
The New Zealand Family Violence Clearinghouse is a partnership between three
non-governmental organisations: the
National Collective of Independent Women’s Refuges,
Te Kupenga Whakaoti Mahi Patunga/National Network of Stopping Violence Services,
Jigsaw,
and the Ministry of
Social Development.
Te Rito: New Zealand Family Violence Prevention Strategy
The New Zealand Family Violence Clearinghouse, launched in 2005, is an outcome
of "Te
Rito: New Zealand Family Violence Prevention Strategy" (2002). Te
Rito was developed by the Family Violence Focus Group in 2002 as a plan of
action to reduce and eliminate family violence in Aotearoa New Zealand.
The Strategy provides a framework for 18 Areas of Action to be implemented over
a five-year period. The NZFVC is the fulfilment of Action Area 8: Research and
evaluation programme, which highlights the need for a mechanism to co-ordinate,
collate and disseminate information on family violence.
