The New Zealand Family Violence Clearinghouse provides information about current and future events relating to family violence prevention and intervention. This includes conferences (national and international), hui, forums, seminars, workshops and news about international visitors to New Zealand who have a particular interest or area of expertise in the field or have made a contribution to the understanding of family violence.

9th Global Conference: Violence - Probing the Boundaries

Supporting Families and children in the Context of Inter-Parental Conflict

The symposium will focus on the impact of inter-parental conflict in children’s psychological development. Emphasis will be placed on applying research evidence to the context of parental separation and divorce and exploring the implications of this research for practitioners, welfare professionals and policy makers. The symposium consists of four main speakers; Professor Gordon Harold Professors Carolyn and Philip Cowan and Dr Leslie Leve, followed by a panel discussion.

Working with Sexual Abuse: Community Solutions to a Community Problem - 3rd Annual Northern Regional Symposium

2010 Global Domestic Violence Conference

This conference is set to be the largest gathering of community groups, government and non-government agencies (NGOs) who are all devoted to highlighting and showcasing successful programs with the aim of empowering people and workers in the field of domestic violence.  It will look at such issues as research, community programs, governmental programs and the dissemination of information to the whole community with the aim of empowering individuals and communities to take action.
 
The gathering extends a special invitation to Indigenous groups from all over the Globe to come and participate in the Gathering in KL.  Indigenous groups from countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA and East Timor have also been invited. Many of these countries have strong and powerful leadership in the areas of control and prevention of domestic violence. These groups have developed superb initiatives both within their countries and in their Indigenous communities.
 

Connecting Women, Respecting Differences

This conference will explore this theme of difference and strategies for connecting diverse women. The organisers are inviting proposals that engage with the often difficult dialogues that are encompassed within the conference theme of difference, diversity, and intersectionality. An invitation is also extended for papers, workshops, panel discussions, performances and artistic displays addressing other themes relevant to the work of the association — such as gender and work, pay equity, women's health, media representations, the body, violence against women, Maori, Pasifika and indigenous women’s issues, women and policy, women’s art, women’s resistance, and more.
 
The deadline for 200 word abstracts and proposals for papers, panels, performances & workshops is 30 September 2010. To be eligible to present at this conference, you must be a woman member of WSANZ in 2010/11.
