This session will be delivered by Kataraina Pipi who will talk about the creation and making of the CD "Where's my Teddy Bear - Kei hea nga kaitiaki". A story of two composers and singers who came together to make a stand about Child Abuse through song. Kataraina will share information about the process of songwriting and how music can be used as a medium to 'take a stand' on an issue. She will also share aspects of her life as a composer and how she and Jodi Vaughn came together on this particular journey. A blending of cultures, of commitment and of creativity in support of keeping our children safe from harm.

Biography

Kataraina Pipi - Ngati Porou, Ngati Hine
Composer, Musician, Facilitator, Evaluator

Kataraina has over 20 years experience as a composer/musician. She is a mother of two who has used music in her personal and professional life to inspire, motivate, heal and create opportunities for people to tell their stories and to share their dreams. Kataraina has been involved in the recording of 6 albums, 2 of which are her own. She is currently in the process of completing her third album due for release in September 2006. Kataraina is also a Facilitator/Trainer and works in the research and evaluation field.
