Wellington City Libraries Palm Tree Blossoming of Our Children - Kia Puawai Ngā Tamariki - 10th Australasian Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect

What works?...Making a difference by and for Young People

Challenge 2000, New Zealand AIDS foundation and Manukau Youth Centre

Natalie Hornyak from Challenge 2000, an alternative education provider, will facilitate this multimedia keynote that explores the link between wider societal aspects of abuse and neglect and programmes developed by and for young people as a response to concerns and issues affecting them.

Programmes from Challenge 2000, the New Zealand Aids Foundation and Manukau youth Centre will showcase their diverse response to young peoples issues - drawing on key principles of youth involvement and what worked for those participating in the service/programme at a community and school level.

The keynote is both a retrospective view on programme development for youth experiencing forms of societal abuse and neglect and a search for outcomes that make a difference - ultimately the keynote is seeking to set the scene for a way forward and the blossoming of young people in the future.
