Practice Programmes

This Practice Database lists family violence-related programmes that are ‘promising’ or ‘emerging’ practice examples.

There is limited research information on effective outcomes or good practice in family violence prevention programmes within Aotearoa New Zealand. Only a few programmes are subject to rigorous external evaluation and there is limited publicly available research information about what works to prevent family violence, keep victims safe and hold perpetrators of violence accountable. However, some programmes can be said to show promise or are ‘emerging good practice’ in that the agency and wider practice community identify that the programme works to acceptable standards and appears to be producing positive outcomes.

The NZFVC provides programme descriptions in order to make information about family violence initiatives and interventions more accessible, with the aim of contributing to improving practice.

Programmes will be included in the Practice Database only once they have been assessed according to the inclusion criteria, and inclusion is approved by the NZFVC Advisory Group Listing the programmes in the Practice Database does not constitute a recommendation or endorsement by NZFVC.
