The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC) recognise that the primary space for radicalisation and violent extremist content is online. A current focus area for preventing and countering violent extremism is designing and building positive interventions online to counter pathways to radicalisation and/or mitigate the spread of extremist content.
Positive online interventions will be a focus area for the next round of grant funding through the PCVE Fund and the DPMC wants to assist organisations that might have an interest in seeking funding, to think about innovative projects and initiatives to address this challenge online. Organisations with an interest in preventing and countering violent extremism are warmly invited to a workshop with the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD) to consider positive interventions online.
This interactive session with ISD - an international counter-extremism ‘think and do’ tank - is aimed at building capacity around positive online interventions to counter a new generation of extremism threats. The session will first outline key international developments in the rapidly shifting extremist threat landscape. It will then introduce innovative and impactful models for positive online interventions, including tried and tested approaches as well as promising programmes. Finally, the session will provide practical tools for safely navigating interventions, such as digital hygiene and operational security, evaluation strategies, safeguarding and ethics.
The DPMC encourages those interested in applying to the PCVE Grant fund for the next round (which will open from July) to attend if convenient. Some may already be in direct contact with DPMC for other sessions with ISD and if so, there is no need to join more than one session.
